Polyglycolic Acid Material Introduction
Polyglycolic acid, referred to as PGA, has the following unique advantages:
A. High strength: The tensile strength of PGA is about twice that of PLA, and it has excellent mechanical properties;
B. High water and oxygen barrier performance: PGA is one of the materials with the best comprehensive barrier performance among plastic materials. Its water vapor barrier performance is about 100 times that of PLA and several times that of PET; the oxygen barrier performance is about 100 times that of PET and PLA. 1000 times that of PGA, and the gas barrier performance of PGA is basically not affected by the ambient temperature;
C. High heat resistance: the heat resistance of PGA products can be above 100°C;
D. Excellent degradability: PGA can be composted industrially, it can be completely degraded in 120 days, and the degradation rate is close to that of cellulose; PGA can also be composted at home, and can degrade more than 90% in 220 days; PGA can also be degraded in seawater, and has excellent degradation performance , the degradation rate reached 75.3% in 28 days, equivalent to cellulose;
E. Good biocompatibility: PGA has good biocompatibility and can be degraded into water and carbon dioxide in the human body.
